Yes you read that title right. Did anyone else know Britney Spears had one of her tours named "Dream within a dream"? Here is the qoute from wikipedia (I am trying to find another link or information, I know many distrust wikipedia!)

that's really awesome. if anybody is seeing the dark side of this country first hand, it is her... the media obsessed at every waking second of her collapsing life. maybe that's what turned her towards poe--seeing america at its darkest, seeing some truth about the country through this daily obsession with a former teeny bopper-turned crazy, while things of REAL significance are happening just under our noses, and the people making all the money are sitting comfortably in their offices letting america's TVs do the job of providing a safe distance between the viewer and the event, letting us both revel at britney AND the war, without actually FEELING either.
sorry for that big run-on sentence. but really, i think poe's legacy can be very relevant in america's inner workings--our psychology and the control those in power have over it. it'd be fun to examine this more, and actually it be formal (supporting statements and research) not top-of-my-head opinions like this. but i guess that's what this is for, right?
